Middle European League (MEVZA)
Kaštela, Croatia. January 20
"Marina Kaštela" — SC "Prometey" 0-3 (20:25, 18:25, 13:25)
On January 20, Prometey played its second match in the Middle European League (MEVZA). On this day, their opponent was the vice-champion of Croatia, the Marina Kaštela club.
From the first minutes of the meeting, both teams did not want to give the initiative to each other - 6:6. In this rhythm, they continued to exchange points until the middle of the set - 13:13. Then our rivals were sly in the attack, elegantly dropping the ball into the free zone. Unfortunately, in the next rally, the Ukrainians themselves made a mistake in the attack, which provoked Ivan Petkov to take a timeout, and not alone. Because the margin of the hosts continued to grow - 18:14.
It is nice to state that the second 30-second break benefited the "red and whites": they tied the score, and after a productive block, they took the lead — 20:21. Two consecutive successful shots by Yevhenia Khober strengthened her team's leadership. And soon Viktoriia Danchak's ace put an end to this segment - 20:25.
The next set was marked by "swings". "Prometey" started it with a powerful rush - 2:8. However, they lost the advantage quite quickly, allowing the opponents to reduce the gap to two points - 10:12. Similar instability haunted Petkov's team throughout the second set. However, it did not prevent them from celebrating the victory in the end - 18:25.
At the start of the third set, the guests organized a spurt — 0:6 — on the serve of Oleksandra Milenko. With a comfortable handicap behind them, our athletes acted quite easily and loosely, which bore some fruit - 5:13. At the same time, the team of Bosnian specialist Goran Zahur did not believe in a comeback themselves, so in the end they were able to score only 13 points.
So, congratulations to our team on its debut victory in this competition. We would like to remind you that the first game against the Hungarian "Békéscsaba" ended with a 0-3 defeat for the Ukrainians.
