On April 12, the teams competing for the bronze medals of the Ukrainian Volleyball Championship entered the "PVLU" arena this season. Kharkiv team "Law Academy" and Zhytomyr club "Zhytichi-Polissia" are trying to take possession of this set of awards.
We talked about the principle of this duel in our preview. And therefore, the tension on the court was felt from the first minutes. The players of Zhytomyr decided to immediately demonstrate their serious intentions at the expense of the final third place (4:1). However, the "lawyers" quickly woke up and joined the game (6:6). Next, the captain of "Zhytychi" Mykola Rudnytskyi was excellent in the attack (10:7), and on the serve of another blocker, Andrii Orobko, the Zhytomyr club was able to gain an advantage of +4 points (12:7). The score continued to grow in favor of Zhytomyr players thanks to their well team play - 25:19.
The second set was similar to the previous one: at first it was an even fight (4:4), and later "Zhytychi" took the lead thanks to the attack and ace of Vitalii Bondar (6:4). Serhii Tereykovsky's team gradually increased the gap (10:7). But the score was leveled again (10:10) on the serve of the setter of the Kharkiv club Illia Polishchuk. And on the serve of the opposite of the "Law academy" Viktor Shapoval, the Kharkiv team became the leaders in this set (16:13). As the result, once again we saw equal numbers on the scoreboard (23:23). In the end, Serhii Kovalenko's team was the first to score 25 points - 25:23.
After 10 minutes of rest, the game started, so to speak, from scratch. After all, the score in sets was equal. From the first minutes of the third set, the Kharkiv volleyball players tried on the role of the leader (5:2 – 17:11) and acted confidently on the block, in the attack and on the serve. 25:19 and 2-1 in favor of the "Law Academy".
In the next episode, the players of Zhytomyr adjusted to the fight and quite easily gained the necessary advantage (4:0). And it seemed that a tie-break awaits us. But... the team from Kharkiv was not worried about -4 and they evened the score without problems (9:9). Vitalii Sukhinin and company continued to score points (11:9 - 16:12) in a high mood. And the players of Zhytomyr despaired that they could continue the match for at least one more set. In the end, 25:20 and 3-1 in favor of Kharkiv.
The most productive player of this meeting was Viktor Shapoval (26 points) the opposite of the "Law Academy". He won the MVP award.
