So, this time, the Dnipro team hoped for victory as well, especially since they needed to win only two sets to reach the quarterfinals.
However, the host team demonstrated on their court and with the support of their fans from the first minutes of the match that they do not plan to give up their ticket to the 1/4 finals so easily.
Although the start of the meeting was for the "red and whites" (6:3), the Turkish team quickly equalized the score on the scoreboard (10:10), and then due to the active actions in the attack of Dick Kooy and Kaan Gurbuz, they took the lead (14:17 ). Our opponent successfully played on the block and thanks to this dictated the pace of the game. 17:25 and 0-1 in favor of "Fenerbahce".
In the second set, the coach of "Prometey" Andrii Levchenko immediately had to take a time-out, because the opponent took advantage literally from the first rallies (1:4). From time to time, the Dnipro team reduced the gap (9:11), but in response, Fenerbahce made a rush and increased the lead even more (16:11). In the end, the hosts also won the second set - 21:25.
In the third set, the players of Dnipro acted more concentratedly and led the score several times, but everything was decided in the end, which was won by the experienced volleyball players of "Fenerbahce" - 23:25.
A decisive "golden set" awaited us. In it, Kerem Yerilmaz's wards started strongly (2:0 – 5:1). When the sides changed, the situation on the court did not change and the Istanbul team led with a double advantage (8:4). "Fenerbahce" played effectively at the first pace and eventually won the decisive set as well - 15:11 and entered the quarter-finals of the CEV Cup.
