On November 23, the first match of the 1/16 finals of the CEV Cup took place in Romania (the city of Mioveni).
VC "Prometey" met with the winner of the Super Cup and Cup of the Netherlands and at the same time the bronze medalist of the national championship, team "Lycurgus" from the city of Groningen.

In the opening set, the Dutch team was able to take a small advantage (9:11), but their own mistakes, fortunately, did not allow them to stay in the lead. Instead, "Prometey" took advantage of the situation in time and seized the initiative (16:13). And maybe he turned the tide of the entire match. After all, the "red and whites" dictated the pace of the game they needed. At the end of the first set, the players from Dnipro did not meet any particular resistance - 25:21.
Success in the previous game gave the champions of Ukraine confidence and they took the lead from the opening minutes (5:1). Then there were two aces from Dmytro Teromenko (7:2). And a comfortable advantage that allowed captain Vitali Shchytkov to use almost all attackers (17:11). Dnipro did not lose concentration and easily scored 25 points - 25:17.
The third set resembled the previous one (5:1), but this time Mihajlo Stanković's serve became an incredible problem for the Dutch (10:1). Even before this score, the coach of "Lycurgus" Arjen Tai ran out of time-outs and he could not influence the development of the meeting in any way. On the other hand, the Dnipro players succeeded in almost everything (16:6). "Red and Whites" calmly and confidently finished the set - 25:16 and the game 3-0, taking the first step to the 1/8 finals of the prestigious tournament.
Dmytro Teromenko, the middle blocker of Prometey, became the most effective player in the first match of the 1/16 finals of the CEV Cup. He scored 13 points, making 78% of attacks, made 3 aces and 3 blocks.
The return match will take place in the Netherlands in the city of Groningen on November 29 at 20:30 Kyiv time.
