The Summer Universiade volleyball tournament is underway in the Chinese city of Chengdu. Ukrainian volleyball players are currently fighting for 5-8 places. The first match in this tournament took place on August 5. "Blue and Yellows" met in a confrontation with the German national team.

The beginning of the meeting was equal (5:5), but the Germans gradually increased their advantage (7:10 - 15:18). And, in the end, they celebrated the victory in the opening set - 18:25.

In the second set, the situation repeated itself. The German students were in the lead, and the Ukrainians were catching ups all the time (2:5 – 8:13 – 16:20). Serhii Kovalenko's wards tried to reduce the gap, but the opponent was stronger - 22:25.

In the third, and unfortunately, the last set, Germany immediately took a double advantage (7:14 – 10:17 – 10:19). A large number of their own mistakes also hindered the successful game of the Ukrainians. The result is 14:25 and 0:3 for Germany.

The most productive player in the national team of Ukraine was the opposite Yevgenii Stepovyi (12 points).
