In the final 6th round of the group stage of the Champions League 2024, SC "Prometey" will face a difficult and at the same time responsible meeting with the Romanian club "Alba Blaj". The match will take place on January 16 at 18:00 in the city of Mioveni. Ukrainian volleyball players will nominally be the hosts, but in fact - their rivals will be the real hosts.

Before the last round, all participants of group E retain their chances to continue the fight in the most prestigious club European competitions.

It is worth reminding that, according to the regulations, the winners of the five groups immediately advance to the quarterfinals. The teams that will finish this stage in second place and one best team among the third places will toss among themselves three more tickets to the 1/4 finals. The other four third-placed clubs will advance to the quarter-finals of the CEV Cup (the second most prestigious tournament).
SC "Prometey" and "Alba Blaj" no longer claim to be the winner of Group E and, accordingly, a direct ticket to the 1/4. After all, at the moment, the teams have two victories each, while "LKS Lodz" and "Volero Le Cannet" have three victories each, which is the main indicator (the points, the difference of won/lost sets, the difference of won/lost points, the results of face-to-face meetings are then counted ). Therefore, the fate of the first place will be decided in their confrontation in the final round.
It is interesting that the losing team of the aforementioned duel may, under certain circumstances, leave the Champions League altogether. Likewise, the success of Ivan Petkov's wards with an "easy" score does not guarantee them a playoff even from third place. Because at this stage, Groups C and D also have quite solid competition, hence the high rating of the third positions.

In order not to list various scenarios and not to resort to mathematical calculations regarding the probable passage of "Prometey", our athletes must beat "Alba" 3-0 or 3-1 and at the same time definitely hope for the defeat of "Le Cannet" with any numbers on the scoreboard in the match against "LKS".
The Ukrainians can reserve the second place for themselves if they succeed on the tie-break, but then the Poles have to overcome the French only with a score of 3-0 or 3-1.
The defeat of the "red and whites" will mean the end of their participation in the European Cups in general.

The teams last met on November 29 in the third round of the Champions League 2024 group stage. Then, in an equal and uncompromising fight, the "red and whites" pushed their opponents to a tie-break.
