The Chernivtsi team "Bukovyna" played its second match in the national championship. This time, the Kharkiv team "Law Academy" became their opponent.
An interesting and intriguing match was expected. That's exactly how it turned out to be. The starting set was absolutely even (14:14 – 23:23). Service of Bohdan Tatarenko, a newcomer to the "lawyers", was decisive here. His ace finished the set in favor of the Kharkiv team - 25:23.
Next, the Bukovyna team played an incredible game in defense and played well in attack (15:8 – 21:13). The Kharkiv coach made a series of substitutions that almost took the initiative away from the opponent (20:23). The residents of Chernivtsi barely kept the minimal advantage, but still equalized the score in sets - 25:22.
After a long break, the Kharkiv club again dictated the tempo of the game (4:1 – 11:8). The young team of Volodymyr Orlov tried to fight on an equal footing with the bronze medalists of last season, but a few "ace-type" services completely spoiled their mood. And the Kharkiv residents played well in defense - 25:17.
But in the fourth set, the Bukovinians got back into the game and thanks to the team play and, in particular, 100% implementation of Andrii Cheleniak's attacks (4 out of 4 attacks and 2 blocks) were able to equalize the score in sets. It was Serhii Riabov, ex-setter of Law Academy, and now a setter of Bukovyna, who put an end to the set with an ace - 25:17.
In the fifth set, Volodymyr Orlov's wards were unstoppable: they took courage and, with wild emotions, were able to win their first victory in the championship - 18:16 and 3-2.
The most productive player of the meeting was Eduard Shteryk (22 points) the outside hitter of Bukovyna.
Andrii Cheleniak, a blocker from Chernivtsi, was awarded the MVP award.
Tomorrow, October 22, at 15:00, Kharkiv players will complete the first round of the Ukrainian championship with a match against VC "MHP-Ladyzhyn-ShVSM-Kolos".
