The starting line-up of the national team of Ukraine: Poluian (scored 15 points), Synytsia (3), Semeniuk (10), Shchurov (3), Kovalov (8), Tupchii (16), Boiko (l), Kanaiev (l). Substitutes: Kucher (1).
The "blue-yellow" team started the match against Iran very strongly, namely with attacks by Tymofii Poluian and two aces by Vasyl Tupchii (4:0). By the way, today Poluian was in the starting line-up of the national team, replacing the captain of the team Oleh Plotnytskyi. And frankly speaking, caused a lot of problems for our opponent. Outside hitter, together with the opposite Tupchii thanks to the passes of Yurii Synytsia were "on fire" and simply destroyed the players in reception on the other side of the court. Compared to yesterday's match against Cuba, Ugis Krastinš's wards today had absolutely everything: serve, block, and attacks. In the end, the right mood, emotions, and excellent game bore a result as the won set - 25:19.
In the second set, the situation was repeated: the Ukrainians dominated, and the Iranians were constantly catching up (18:15). The opponent tried to get a little closer by the score (16:18), but the team of Ugis Krastinš made a rush after the time-out, and then kept the score in their favor - 25:22.
The third set started with an even game (7:7). But the Iranians themselves gave the Ukrainians three points in a row, directing the ball far beyond the lines of the court (10:7). The head coach of Iran was forced to take a time-out, but even after that, the panic on their side of the court did not pass (13:8 - 17:12). As a result, fortunately for the Ukrainian fans who watched live late at night, this set became the final and most devastating in this meeting - 25:17 and 3:0 in favor of Ukraine!
"Blue and Yellow" won their first victory in the qualification match for the Olympic Games 2024.
The opposite Vasyl Tupchii (16 points) became the most effective player in today's meeting.
On October 3, at 23:00 Kyiv time, the Ukrainians will play against the reigning world champions - the Italian national team.
