On April 11, in Chernivtsi, the decisive matches of the Ukrainian volleyball championship among men's teams of the Super League-Budinvest season 2022-2023 started at the "PVLU" arena.
"Epicentr-Podolyany" from the town of Horodok in Khmelnytskyi region and the Dnipro club "Prometey" are fighting for the title of the country's champion this year.
The starting set had a better begining for the volleyball players from Dnipro: aces by Ian Yereshchenko, Oleksandr Gladenko, Vitalii Shchytkov and effective attacks by Dmytro Shapoval gave an excellent result (14:7 – 20:13). Andrii Levchenko's players were difficult to restrain, and although the Podolyany used their powerful serve at the end, they could not eliminate the advantage of +7 points - 25:18.
The second set went in an equal men's fight (11:11). But then Yevhenii Kisiliuk appeared on the serve, who first made an ace (12:11), then Croatian opposite Ivan Reich finished the next rally with a productive attack (13:11), and after that, Volodymyr Ostapenko played excellently on the block (14:11). The Dnipro team started to make mistakes in the attack (18:13), and a little later the middle blocker of "Prometey" Heorhii Klepko suffered an unfortunate injury. "Bisons" courageously brought this set to victory - 25:21.
After a long break, Andrii Levchenko's team immediately took the lead (2:0), but the Podolyany quickly corrected the situation in their favor (6:3). However, no one was going to give up and after several rallies the score became equal (6:6). Later, Mariusz Sordyl's team made a breakthrough again (16:13), and it seemed that now they would win the second set in a row. But the captain of the "red and whites" Vitalii Shchytkov gave a series of powerful serves and brought his team ahead (18:17). Next, the audience once again saw an even game and incredible rallies performed by both teams (23:23). In the end of the set, the volleyball players of "Epicenter" managed to concentrate better - 25:23.
The fourth set also started with an equal struggle (5:5). Bulgarian outside hitter Nikolay Penchev entered the game on time: a successful attack and a block put the "bisons" ahead (7:5). By the course of the set, the advantage only grew (11:7 - 15:8) and although the players of Dnipro tried to resist, they could not eliminate such a gap - 25:18.
