Champions League 2024 (Women)
February 1. Playoffs (first match)
Mioveni, Romania
SC "Prometey" — "Eczacıbaşı" 0-3 (15:25, 13:25, 16:25)
Unfortunately, the volleyball players of SC "Prometey" could not oppose the Turkish "Eczacıbaşı" in the first match of the playoffs of the Champions League 2024. The game ended with a score of 0-3 in favor of the opponents.
At the start of the match, the Ukrainians were noticeably worried, which allowed Jovana Stevanovic to score more than one ace (0:3). However, Ivan Petkov's wards were rapidly getting in the mood, and soon several consecutive effective attacks by Svitlana Dorsman reduced the gap between the sides to just two points (6:8).
Opponents quickly drew conclusions and made it difficult for our volleyball players to play offensively. As a result, each subsequent point was more and more difficult for "Prometey". At the same time, on the other side of the net, Tijana Bošković and the company gathered courage and eventually brought the set to a confident triumph — 15:25.
After the break between the sets, the "red and whites" took the lead for the first time in this meeting (2:1). But the opposites regained the initiative. It was noticeable that the Turks perfectly studied the manner of our athletes in the final stage of attacks, for example, Marta Drpa. Therefore, Petkov decided to make adjustments, replacing the Serb with Viktoriia Danchak. But such perturbations did not confuse Ferhat Akbash's team. Especially when Boškovic plays for his team - 13:25.
The development of the third set resembled the previous two. A powerful block and an accurate tight serve were the hallmarks of "Eczacıbaşı" today (2:7) and were not to the Ukrainians' liking. At a certain moment, Anastasiia Maievska and Yevheniia Khober appeared on the court. The latter immediately justified the coach's trust with an earned point. Of course, fresh blood added momentum to "Prometey", but the Turkish club also found its reserves - 16:25.
