Today, for the first time in the history of domestic volleyball, the "Budinvest" League Cup among men's teams started. The competition began with the quarter-final stage and the first to enter the court of "Malenkyi Paryzh" were Dnipro-based "Prometey" and "Security Police-ZUNU-Dynamo" from Ternopil.
"Prometey" came to the confrontation as the favorite, although the opponent was strengthened by the passer of "Reshetylivka" Oleksandr Prokopets before the start of the League Cup. The team from Dnipro started the match very powerfully, already in the first half of the starting set, leading the score with a difference of 6 points - 10:4, 11:5. In the second half, they also confidently owned the initiative, taking the set with a score of 25:17.
Nothing has changed in the schedule of forces and in the debut of the second set, which the Dnipro players again started with their "+6" - 9:3. This time, Yurii Kravtsov's team managed to significantly catch up with the opponent (9:11), but they failed to develop their success. At the end of the set, the Ternopil team again trailed Andrii Levchenko's team by 2 points (22:24), but Taras Oleksiuk's effective shot from the 2nd zone was the last event in this set - "Prometey" led the match with a score of 2:0.
After a ten-minute break, the team from Dnipro did not lose their concentration, even in the first half of the set they set their handicap to +8 – 12:4. After that, "Prometey" brought the game to a logical conclusion and became the first semifinalist of the tournament.
