The current champion of Ukraine SC "Prometey" has already lost its chances for the playoffs of the Champions League. However, they still hope to fight for another Euro-trophy, just like Alba Blaj. Everything will be decided in the confrontation between the teams on February 8 at 19:00.
CEV Champions League 2022/23. Group stage. 6th round
Tirgu Mures (Romania). Sala Polivalentă
February 8. 19:00
"Alba Blaj" - SC "Prometey"
What are the chances of the clubs in the Champions League
This will be the last match for both teams in this competition of the current season because they have lost all chances to continue the fight. However, this does not mean that the rivals have nothing more to fight for. On the contrary, the winner of the duel will receive a ticket to the quarter-finals of the CEV Cup.
We would like to remind you of the regulations. So, the winners of all five groups will go directly to the 1/4 finals of the Champions League. The second teams and one of the third places with the best results will form three pairs that will play for tickets to the quarterfinals. The other four teams from the third positions will be transferred to the quarter-finals of the CEV Cup.
It is also worth saying that "Prometey" and "Alba Blaj" will no longer become the best third team of all. Currently, only representatives of quartet D claim this place, where after five rounds, three of them have 10 points each ("Stuttgart", "Fenerbahce", "Lodz").
Returning to our group B, the Romanians have 4 points, and the "red and whites" have 2. Therefore, the main intrigue of this confrontation is who will continue the fight in the lower-class tournament.
Tournament table
Previous match
The previous match ended with the victory of the Romanian club - 0-3 (15:25, 22:25, 21:25). Due to experience, our opponents controlled the course of events on the court for most of the confrontation, starting from the first minutes.
However, the "red-and-whites" had the opportunity to get hold of the second set (22:23), which could well turn the tide of the game. Unfortunately, the last word was left to Stevan Lyubichych's team.
