"After weeks of consultation with international sports federations and following IOC recommendations, we have come to the conclusion that it will be impossible to register Russian and Belarusian athletes in Chengdu, as neutral athletes or officials, less than two months before the deadline for individual applications. The FISU Executive Committee confirmed that Russian and Belarusian university athletes and officials will not be able to participate in the FISU World Universiade in Chengdu," the organization said in a statement.
It should be noted that the men's and women's volleyball teams of Ukraine will take part in the 2023 World Universiade. According to the results of the draw, which took place on March 31, Volodymyr Romantsov's team got into Group C, where they will play against Japan, Azerbaijan, Mexico, and China.
