Representatives of Poltava Oblast and Kharkiv had the honor of opening the VIII round of the Men's Super League-Budinvest.
The start of the match was traditionally equal (4:4). However, it lasted until the moment when Law Academy's captain Vitalii Sukhinin went to serve. 5 aces in a row and "lawyers" broke ahead (9:4). The coach of "Reshetylivka" resorted to a substitution: instead of Oleksii Drofa, a newcomer to the team, Anatolii Fudar, appeared on the court. But neither substitutions nor time-outs helped to change the situation on the court of the "PVLU" arena (17:7). "Lawyers' " middle blocker Oleksandr Tereshchuk finished the set with a series of successful serves (25:13).
The second set was the complete opposite of the first: "Reshetylivka" played excellent defense and hung on to every rally to score as many points as possible. At the same time, Law Academy, on the contrary, made many of their own mistakes (17:25).
After a long break, the set started, so to speak, from a clean slate. A tie in sets meant that either team had a chance to win. "Law Academy" managed to find the right pace of the game right away. With their powerful serving, they knocked out the volleyball players on the other side of the court (10:3). The team from Poltava tried to get closer to the "lawyers" (13:11), but they did not have the necessary success (17:12). In the end, the Kharkiv team increased their advantage even more and won another set - 25:17.
The start of the fourth set was in favor of Serhii Kovalenko's team (4:1). However, "Reshetylivka" finally "felt the game". To be more specific, Danylo Fedosieiev (4:6), and then Nik Sotnyk (5:8) issued a series of good serves. Closer to the equator of the set, the teams tied the score (14:14). And then it was the game until the first mistake. The volleyball players kept the intrigue for the TV viewers a little longer (16:16). And then the "lawyers" made a series of successful rallies and took the lead (20:17). But the Poltava players did not calm down and desperately tried to correct the situation. It was difficult for them, but they succeeded - 29:31. A tie-break was waiting for us. The first in the VIII game week.
The decisive part of the game was better played by Poltava residents: emotions, fewer mistakes, and aces by Fedosieiev and Sotnyk. All this became the key to victory on the tie-break – 10:15 and a 2:3 in general.
The most effective player of the match was the captain of "Reshetylivka" Nick Sotnyk. He scored 23 points and received the MVP prize from the tournament organizers.
