The women's national team of Ukraine U-20 won the third match in a row in the qualification for the European Championship-2024, earning the coveted ticket to the final part of the continental championship. This time our volleyball players turned out to be stronger than the representatives of Germany.
The blue-yellow team came to the third match of the qualification for the Euro against the Germans as the leaders of Group C. The wards of Artem Dyhtiarenko alternately overcame the resistance of Finland and Estonia, at the same time not giving them a single set.
Meanwhile, the owners of the quartet could not find stability in the first two rounds, as evidenced by their latest failure against the aforementioned Finns (1-3). In today's confrontation, they still hoped to show their best game, which would help them solve the main question - to make it to the European Championship.
However, already at the start of the meeting, it became clear that the German national team was still far from ideal conditions (5:2). At the equator of the set, thanks to Polina Herasimchuk's stable serve, the Ukrainians broke away from the opponents by four points (11:7). By the end of this segment, they were able to develop their success — 25:13.
Rivals made conclusions during the break and began to impose a worthy fight on our athletes (5:5). In particular, their successful actions on the block caught the eye (6:9, 13:15). However, towards the end of the set, the blue-yellow team reduced the number of errors, which allowed them to seize the initiative and ultimately triumph — 25:22.
The start of the next set was left to the hosts (1:4). Perhaps the lack of concentration of the Ukrainian team was indicated due to the fact that the previous success secured them first place in Group C and, accordingly, a ticket to the European Championship. The Germans skillfully took advantage of this - 20:25.
The fourth set was marked by simply crazy "swings". The scales of the tilted in different directions again and again. Fortunately, in the end, the last word was left to Artem Dyhtiarenko's wards, who finished the qualification with a hundred percent win rate - 25:22
