VC "Prometey" took the first step to the quarter-finals of the CEV Cup

On December 14, VC "Prometey" played for the first time in its history in the 1/8 finals of the CEV Cup - the second most important European Cup tournament.

The rivals of the "red and whites" was the Serbian club "Partizan" from the city of Belgrade - the current champion of Serbia and the winner of the National Cup and the Super Cup.

The first two rallies of this confrontation were for the Serbian team (0:2). However, the situation quickly changed to an even score thanks to the powerful serving of the Dnipro captain (4:4). And then "Prometey" step by step, or rather block by block, earned a minimal advantage (9:6), which then gradually increased (18:14 - 21:16). The final rally of this set was a double block performed by Dmytro Viietskyi and Dmytro Teromenko, who recovered from an injury and is helping his team a lot in the fight for the quarterfinals of the CEV Cup - 25:19.

The second set also pleased the fans of the Dnipro club, because the "red and whites" felt confident in the Romanian arena in the city of Mioven. Two consecutive blocks by Denys Veletskyi brought the Ukrainian team ahead (3:1). And then, thanks to effective attacks and a good game in defense, the players of Dnipro earned a double advantage (12:6). And then there was a series of powerful serves by Vitalii Shchytkov, of which there were 4 aces (17:6). In the end, Andrii Levchenko's wards won this part of the game without any problems and with a crushing score - 25:9.

In the third set, the situation did not change: "Prometey" dominated in all types of game elements. A triple block and immediately a single block from Viietskyi added even more confidence to the Dnipro players at the start of the third set (5:1). Then the "red and whites" continued to score points and, in the end, finished the third set in their favor as well - 25:15 and 3-0.

The return match will take place in Belgrade on December 21 at 19:00 Kyiv time. In order to reach the 1/4 finals of the CEV Cup, the Dnipro team needs to win two sets against Serbia.
