Our volleyball players are showing better and better results with each new match in the qualifying tournament of the 2024 Olympics. In particular, today they managed to win their debut victory in the competition over the players of the Czech Republic.
On the serve of the opposite Gabriela Orvosova, who managed to mark herself with an ace in the opening minutes, the opponents organized a small surge - 1:4. The setter of the Czech team, Katerina Valkova, regularly assisted her teammates behind the head, and they used these runs quite successfully - 3:9. For their part, the Ukrainian women lacked power in the attack, there were also problems with implementation - 12:25.
Again, not a very successful start from the blue-yellow team (2:4), but they immediately managed to correct themselves. In particular, Viktoriia Danchak knocked out the opponent from the reception, and the finalizing of the rally was left to us. In the end, a four-point gap between the teams forced Ioannis Athanasopoulos to take a break - 9:5. Closer to the end of the set, the representatives of the Czech Republic came closer to the distance of one point. However, this did not prevent Ukraine from restoring parity by sets — 25:23.
After the previous success, the psychological advantage was already on the side of our athletes, which they skillfully used - 9:5, 13:7. The Czechs, on the contrary, looked dejected. They did not always have time to "cover" shots from the other side of the net. The only thing that could prevent the Ukrainians from winning is the Ukrainians themselves. After all, at a certain point, the number of their mistakes increased. It is good that Petkov managed to stabilize the situation with a break - 25:18.
Svitlana Dorsman, like a real captain, led the team. The first three points of the national team at the start of the fourth set were scored by the middle blocker — 3:1. Then she sweetened this success with an ace, adding confidence to her partners. At that moment, the overall triumph of the blue-yellow team had to be doubted - 25:15.
