September 17. The second round

Ukraine — Serbia 0-3 (18:25, 18:25, 16:25)

The women's national team of Ukraine suffered a second consecutive defeat in qualification for the 2024 Olympic Games. The Serbian team became a serious obstacle for Ivan Petkov's wards, so our ladies are still without victories at this tournament.

Both teams had a rather dynamic start. However, the world champions took minimal initiative — 3:4. There was a likable fact - the blue-yellow team always reciprocated the opponents' effective attacks, but it didn't last long. Tijana Bošković was keeping our team in tonus: the athlete broke the block and served an ace - 5:9.

On the other hand, our opposite Anastasiia Kraiduba did not play well from the first minutes. Therefore, even before the middle of this set, she was substituted by Viktoriia Danchak. However, Ukrainians encountered problems not only in attack but also in defense. In particular, they did not have a good feel of the court, which is why they missed a lot of servings. All this together led to a loss of set - 18:25.

The start of the second set remained for Ukraine — 4:2, 6:4. The players of Serbia entered the game somewhat sluggishly, but later compensated for this local failure by equalizing parity. Giovanni Guidetti's team acted in an organized manner on the block, so our volleyball players tried to take risks in the final stages of combinations. Such shots often hit the net, out or the hands of the "middle" players — 12:16. This handicap was enough for the world champions to double the score by sets - 18:25. In the final one, the blue-yellow team scored the fewest points and eventually lost in three sets - 16:25.

Starting line-up of Ukraine: Daria Sharhorodska (2), Svitlana Dorsman (c) (3), Anastasiia Maievska (5), Oleksandra Milenko (10), Yuliia Dymar, Anastasiia Kraiduba, Krystyna Niemtseva (l). Substitutes: Viktoriia Danchak (6), Nadiia Kodola (5), Yevheniia Khober.
