The day before, Ivan Petkov's wards reached the final of the European Golden League-2023, where they will play against Sweden on July 6 and 9. This success has already given both teams a quota in the Challenger Cup - a qualifying tournament for the prestigious Nations League-2024.

In addition to the Swedes, for the final victory in the aforementioned competitions, the blue and yellows will fight against representatives of France (the hosts), Colombia, Kenya, Mexico, Vietnam (who won the continental tournaments), and the worst national team of the Nations League-2023.

The matches of the Challenger Cup will be held according to the playoff system in the city of Laval from July 27 to 30. The opponents of the Ukrainians in the 1/4 finals will be known later.
