On April 14, the second meeting in the series of matches for the third place of the men's Super League-Budinvest of the 2022-2023 season took place in the "PVLU" arena in Chernivtsi.
The first game was successful for volleyball players from Kharkiv: "Law Academy" conceded in the opening set, but then won three consecutive sets (3-1).
Today, the "lawyers" came to the court with the determined intention of continuing their winning streak. Serhii Kovalenko's team tried to act cautiously, but effectively (12:8 - 22:17). Moreover, the players of Zhytomyr made one mistake after another. However, at the end of the opening set, "Zhytychi" managed to make a good breakthrough and equalize the score (23:23). However, the team from Kharkiv "woke up" just in time and were the first to score 25 points - 25:23.
The second set was equal at first (7:7). In order to get ahead, the Kharkiv volleyball players played on the block in time (10:7 - 15:11). In addition to time-outs, the head coach of "Zhytychi" also decided to make a substitution, which turned out to be quite successful - Bohdan Onipko appeared on the court instead of Denys Hubenko. Mykola Kuranov from Zhytomyr demonstrated a good float serve. It was his serve that turned the score from 12:17 to 17:17. Then there was another series of the switching lead, at the end of which mistakes were made by the players of "Law Academy". 25:23 and Zhytomyr tied the score in sets.
After a long break, the Kharkiv team was the first to score points (6:3 – 16:13). And although they had a small advantage, they set themselves the task of keeping it. Coping with this task was quite difficult, but realistic - 25:22.
The fourth set was similar to the previous three: the teams took turns leading the score and, most importantly for the fans, demonstrated high-quality volleyball in defense and attack and an incredible desire to win! In whose favor this set will end, it was not clear until its conclusion (21:21). In the end, the setter of the Kharkiv club Illia Polishchuk skillfully played on the block, and the opposite of the "lawyers" Victor Shapoval put the final point in the match - 25:23. By the way, he became the most productive player, scoring 31 points. The organizers recognized this and presented the attacker with the MVP award.
